Sticky credentials for Sharepoint domain users

When logging in to a Sharepoint site it is sometimes necessary to specify your credentials depending on how things are set up.  While I do not really adovacate this practice as in may be a security liability in your environment, here is a way you can setup Internet Explorer to automatically supply those crentials for you.

In Internet Explorer:

Tools   –> Internet Options –> Security for the zone in which your WSS site is in

  • Click on Custom Level
  • scroll down to the end there’s a User Authentication/Logon section
  • select “Automatic logon with current name and password”

Provided your users are logging in to the domain, they will no longer need to present
their credentials.

Specify the Intranet Zone for Vista and the Trusted Sites zone for
Windows XPPro.
