Change Analysis Diagnostic

Ever want to know what changes occured on a system.  Change Analysis Diagnostic is the tool for you.

  1. Download
  2. Install
  3. Read the kb924732
  4. Run the tool in Wizard mode
    1. Start –> Run –> statechangediag.exe (C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries)
    2. OK, NEXT
    3. Select date range
    4. Wait…
    5. Next
    6. View the report
    7. Optionaly print/email .xml file generated to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME
  5. Run the tool from the command line

Add SBS certificate to Windows Vista and IE7

Having trouble getting Windows Vista/IE7 to trust your self signed certificate?.  Follow these easy steps:

  1. Run IE as an administrator (Right-click the desktop icon)
  2. Visit the site.
  3. Click through the certificate error
  4. Click the “Certificate Error” button in the address bar.
  5. Click View Certificate
  6. Click Install Certificate
  7. Unlike on XP, you must click the “Place all certificates in the following store” radio button, and choose the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” store.

Windows Vista downgrade rights to XP

You can downgrade from OEM copies of Vista Business/Ultimate

  4. You may also be able to “glean” information from the EULA located on the CD.  I found the following information directly on the DVD version of Vista Business OEM purchased in Canada:

    14.  DOWNGRADE.  Instead of using the software, you may use one of the following earlier versions:
          ·     Microsoft Windows XP Professional,
          ·     Microsoft Windows Professional x64 Edition, or
          ·     Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
          This agreement applies to your use of the earlier versions.  If the earlier version includes different components, any terms for those components in the agreement that comes with the earlier version apply to your use of them.  Neither the manufacturer or installer, nor Microsoft is obligated to supply earlier versions to you.  You must obtain the earlier version separately.  At any time, you may replace an earlier version with this version of the software.

    1. The end user can use any media he/she owns.  If you don’t have any purchase a retail copy of XP.
